The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office announced that Officer Brian Cummings has been charged with felony counts of second degree manslaughter and criminal vehicular homicide.

“This incident, like any use of force incident involving a Hemet Police Officer is taken seriously and will be thoroughly investigated.”

“I’m hoping for some kind of disciplinary action and furthermore, I wish that this doesn’t happen to no one else."

“When the entire investigation is complete, the case will be presented to a grand jury, typically consisting of 16 to 23 citizens, to make the ultimate decision regarding whether criminal charges will be filed.”

If convicted, the defendants face up to five years in prison.

Bowman reportedly suffered multiple injuries, including broken ribs, a fractured arm, and a laceration to his head.

“Those who violate their oath to protect and serve discredit the good work law enforcement strives to do every day.”

Chauvin is currently serving 22½ years in state prison for killing George Floyd. He pleaded not guilty.
