Andrew Hughes was raised in a small town in Texas and played football at Rice University. He is a Fulbright scholar and briefly began a medical education before deciding instead to spend his 20s traveling. Since then he has worked many jobs: a techno deejay, a contractor in Iraq, a sound engineer, a piano tuner and most recently as a software developer. He is also the author of a science fiction novel, Mind Your Meter! He lives in Anchorage, Alaska, where he keeps busy sea kayaking and contemplating a new career as a bush pilot.
