As the fires in Los Angeles continue to burn down communities, In Defense of Animals is working to support animal rescuers responding to life-saving aid for animals affected by the crisis. The organization has been working around the clock to evacuate animals from dangerous areas.

In Defense of Animals, which is collaborating with multiple local rescuers and organizations, including Advanced Fire Rescue, Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue and Philozoia, to “offer emergency aid to animal rescuers and caregivers affected by the fires and providing free resources for temporary housing and care for wild and domestic animals,” according to a press release.

“The devastation of these fires is unimaginable, and animals are often the most vulnerable victims,” Marilyn Kroplick M.D., president of In Defense of Animals, said. “We are deeply grateful for the bravery of responders like Sammy Zablen and the other incredible organizations we are coordinating with to help on the ground. Together, we are making a difference for animals in crisis.”

A couple notable rescues include two ponies, who were recovered by Philozia, and a pig and 38 dogs were also successfully evacuated from the fires. But Philozoia is seeking urgent foster care for several senior dogs.

Los Angelenos who can foster a senior dog are encouraged to apply at here. Also, any donations to help support In Defense of Animals continue its effort to provide free resources and emergency support, click here.
