Inspect the latest, outlier poll,
Confounding liberal self-control;
Can Biden’s no-scandal status fall,
Not Trump’s—awash with sleazy folderol?

Are reams of voters out to lunch,
So stupefied they just counter punch?
Does corrupt cable so tout grievance
To blur competence with malfeasance?

Sure, Biden has flaws, and he’s no kid,
But Trump’s the evil wizard of id;
So far Joe shines as beacon bright,
Redeeming years of loathsome blight.

Low-key Biden is no charismatic,
But also no witless, racist fanatic;
What Dems push election terrorism?
What MAGAs don’t propel fascism?

So, “all alone,” what did Trump get done?
He ambushed voters with a fake end run.
No border wall, no migrant reform,
Only nasty bluster, bile and scorn.

In two years Biden did so much more
Than the criminal didn’t do in four;
Biden’s the stunning overachiever;
Trump’s a pandemic of swamp fever.

So of course blame Biden for everything,
Not the sleazebag who would be king?
Did Biden solely cause inflation,
Or MAGA’s blackmail debt fixation?

If the election were held today
Who doubts Biden wins, going away?
Tin ear Trump sabotages his chances,
The bulls-eye for predatory romances.

Biden delivered much he promised,
Now he’s punished for being honest;
He’s not malicious, mean or cruel
And the old guy knows how to rule.

For over a decade, Robert S. Becker's independent, rebel-rousing essays on politics and culture analyze overall trends, history, implications, messaging and frameworks. He has been published widely, aside from Nation of Change and RSN, with extensive credits from OpEdNews (as senior editor), Alternet, Salon, Truthdig, Smirking Chimp, Dandelion Salad, Beyond Chron, and the SF Chronicle. Educated at Rutgers College, N.J. (B.A. English) and U.C. Berkeley (Ph.D. English), Becker left university teaching (Northwestern, then U. Chicago) for business, founding SOTA Industries, a top American high end audio company he ran from '80 to '92. From '92-02, he was an anti-gravel mining activist while doing marketing, business and writing consulting. Since then, he seeks out insight, even wit in the shadows, without ideology or righteousness across the current mayhem of American politics.
