Trump has removed the heart and soul of the Republican Party. The GOP is dying, what will replace it?

Most of them feel that the party cannot be reformed but that a new party must be created with new ideas, a new agenda, and new directions.

It took Trump only 4 years to carry out this despicable act against the Republican Party. And, now as he leaves office, he still is determined to maintain control over it and its members. If anyone thinks that he is going to go back to his former life and cede control over the Republican Party to others, then they need to think again. Trump will be a dark specter that hangs over the Republican Party and its members going into the future. That is, if he is not convicted for his many crimes, and ends up in prison for some time.

In doing this massive damage to the GOP he had some help. His most effective assistant was the Senate Majority leader, Mitch O’Connell, who aided him greatly in his twisted agenda. Trump set no objectives, he showed no leadership and didn’t meet with the House and Senate’s members to motivate them to do anything positive and constructive. So, as a result, the party became stagnant and just plain useless. Almost all of the legislation the House and Senate Democrats wanted to enact was put on the back burner to die.

The Republican Party, once the proud party of Lincoln, accomplished a great many things in the past. It once included senators like Everett Dirksen of Illinois, Robert Taft of Ohio, Arthur Vandenberg of Michigan, Barry Goldwater of Arizona, and Robert Dole of Kansas, all of whom were exemplary. leaders. They knew how to get things done and how to work with Democrats to make good things happen. But they are a breed of the past and now America is stuck with the likes of Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida who are the exact opposite of those great Republicans.

The current Senate doesn’t have even one Republican Senator that measures up to any one of these former great Republicans. Those who occupy the Senate right now are great at obstruction of necessary legislation, destruction of important social programs, and important regulations that apply to various business sectors.

One thing we should know and take into consideration is that Trump is a control freak of the highest order. This is his only talent, to control anything and everything. His kind has no place in politics, he is like a fish out of water. But, instead of staying in the real estate business where he could continue initiating bankruptcies, he entered politics, and that was like a death knell for the Republican Party.

Trump has taken this party and completely changed what it once stood for; decency, honor, integrity, knowing the difference between right and wrong, and trying to do what is right for this country. All he wants to do is to control, control, and control. He is not a Republican, he never was, and he cares nothing about what this party once was and stood for.

He has turned the members of this party in the House and, in particular the Senate, into submissive, subservient puppets, dancing on his strings. This party has no specific problem-solving agenda, no important objectives, and at its 2020 convention, it decided not to even develop a party platform. So, all these puppets go to work, get nothing done, and wait for Trump’s next set of commands.

They should wake up to the fact that America and its democracy are under siege, under a massive attack by the most radical elements that this country has ever seen; radicals that are half-crazed such as Rudy Guiliani, Sidney Powell, the convicted felon Michael Flynn, and Steve Bannon. They are just like Trump, control freaks who want to establish an authoritarian government in America.

Watching the members of this party closely one can readily see the fear, the extreme anxiety, the confusion, and the feeling of helplessness that is present. The party has managed to paint itself into a corner, seemingly with no way to get out. Its members have become hooked on that 42% of Trump’s rabid supporters. If they dare to pull away from Trump and set their own objectives, they know that that rock-solid 42% will condemn them and end their tenure in Congress. What to do? They don’t have a clue.

These Republicans have been fully aware that the Russians launched a massive cyberattack on a wide array of U.S. intelligence and other agencies. They wait for Trump to act to put a stop to them and to put the blame on Russia and Putin, but to no avail. This latest Russian cyberattack may be an act of war, but Trump and Republicans are doing nothing to counter-attack. This lack of action borders on treason.

There are a very large number of Republicans in this country that are appalled at what is going on and what Trump has done to the party. I’m sure they are trying to figure out how they can put an end to the vice-like control that Trump intends to keep over Republicans after he becomes a citizen.

Most of them feel that the party cannot be reformed but that a new party must be created with new ideas, a new agenda, and new directions. To do these things we have to see dedicated and determined new style-Republicans step forward and initiate a movement to accomplish it.

Who exactly is going to do it, who or what group has the will and the power to do it? Well, there will be a plethora of current or former Republicans who have been repulsed by what Trump has done to their party, One group that has been very active in working to see that Trump would lose the election is the Lincoln Project, Here are some of the founders of this group of modern-day patriots:

George Conway, a noted attorney, Steve Schmidt, formerly a GOP strategist, and Rick Wilson, a GOP strategist. Then there’s Michael Steele, former RNC chairman, who is an advisor to the group. There are also a great many other Republicans like journalists George Will and Max Boot who would help to create a new party. If the Lincoln Project and a host of other loyal Republicans form a movement then that’s a great way to get “out with the old and in with the new.”

These patriots are going to try to usher in a new Age of Enlightenment for Republicans. It will take some time and will be very difficult and it can’t happen overnight. One of the first tasks will be to flush out of the House and the Senate the current Republicans who have been no more than political slaves for Trump.

This new party will strive to conduct its business in an ethical, honorable, moral manner, with honesty, truthfulness, and integrity present in their dealings. Its members will strive to adhere to the Constitution and operate a government of, by, and for the people. Its future new style members will see to it that the interests of the people come before their own.

If the leaders of this new party are still going to call it the party of Abraham Lincoln, then they must create an appropriate name for it; maybe The Party of Lincoln or The Lincoln Party. Let’s hope this great objective materializes for the sake of this country.
