The good, the bad and the ugly: Medical heroes, anti-maskers, and rotten politicians

We know who the Good are, they are exemplary, the very best of Americans. We know that the bad and ugly are personified by one Donald. J. Trump, someone who bends or breaks any law that stands in his way.

The Good are the extremely dedicated medical personnel who work tirelessly and risk their lives to save the lives of their fellow Americans who have contracted the Covid-19 virus. They are American heroes, true American patriots.

The bad are those who I call rogue Americans, who refuse to wear masks or practice social distancing, congregate in large numbers, and, by doing so, spread the virus across the country, causing needless deaths. They are a menace, extremely dangerous Americans

And the ugly?  First, there’s the current president, Trump, his total mismanagement of this crisis, and how he ignored the huge surges that sent more and more Americans to hospitals. Without question, he is personally responsible for the deaths of many thousands of Americans.

Also included in the ugly category are the cowardly Trumpian politicians who sit on their dead rear ends in Congress and could care less how many of their fellow Americans die.

As more and more of them die what is Trump doing, is he burning the midnight oil with his advisers trying to figure out how to bring this surge under control? No, he is playing a lot of golf and spending a lot of time attempting to force the Georgia Secretary of State, Raffensperger, to “find” 11,780 votes that would give him the win.

That one-hour telephone call he made to the Secretary and the language he used is now being seen as a crime and the Fulton County Attorney General has stated that she will immediately begin an investigation to determine if he committed a crime. She has said that it looks like an open and shut case and if so, Trump is in big-time trouble.

Then there are those seemingly “normal” Americans who wear masks and practice social distancing but disregarded the warnings of Doctor Fauci and the CDC and traveled over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to visit family and friends.

The way these ugly politicians, the useless Republicans in Congress, have been acting, is just plain disgusting and revolting. Giving desperate Americans a paltry $600 in this latest stimulus is an insult to them, disgraceful. These low grade, heartless politicians make $174,000 per year, none of them have been laid off, been evicted from their homes, or forced to stand in long food pantry lines.

Their lives have not been turned upside down, they aren’t losing their savings. You would think that they would have a great deal of empathy and sympathy and go all out to help their fellow Americans, but they don’t give a damn.

Let me paint a nightmarish picture of what could happen. What if, as this virus continues to surge, a great many of these medical heroes can’t keep going and give in to extreme tiredness or great stress. As more and more Americans succumb to the virus and have to be hospitalized the ranks of medical personnel could drastically shrink. We’ll see more people die, hospitals will have to limit admittance.

Surge after surge will rage across America and we will experience a

national catastrophe: one that we can’t even begin to imagine. America, its society, its economy, and the government could very well teeter on the verge of a collapse.

If this nightmare takes place we can put the blame directly on those rogue Americans who absolutely refuse to wear masks, social distance, and congregate.

What Biden must do as soon as he takes office is to initiate a huge, very comprehensive program to rein in these reckless, rogue Americans. When we know that they could cause a national catastrophe are we going to stand by and let them do it or will we take steps to rein them in?

What I see happening here in this country, and sooner rather than later is for Congress and states and local governments to pass laws or ordinances to establish mandatory guidelines for mask-wearing and social distancing. This is a must, no longer a choice.

Do we let people go through red lights, let them go 90 or 100 miles per hour on major highways? When theaters are open would we let someone yell out “fire” when there is none? Anyone who does these things will get a taste of the law.

Here’s what we need to see happen all over this country. If anyone deliberately refuses to follow the guideline they will get a fine of, let’s say, $500. A second offense will call for a fine of $1500. A third one will result in a 30-day stay in a local jail. This should wake them up.

For those who think that this kind of mandate is too severe, they should think deeply about the huge number of Americans who are grieving for family members or friends who have died needlessly at the hands of these rogue Americans. They have caused the pandemic to magnify to a great extent. Enough is enough!!!! Rein in these rogues or this pandemic will rage on with no end in sight.

So, we know who the Good are, they are exemplary, the very best of Americans. And, we know that the bad and ugly are personified by one Donald. J. Trump, someone who bends or breaks any law that stands in his way; who has no use for the Constitution and is intent on destroying this democracy.

Trump, when he leaves office, fully intends to maintain his massive control over the Republican Party and do everything in his power to interfere with the functions of this government. We can only hope that the various state investigations will be progressed and that they produce solid, irrefutable evidence to convict him; and that he is sent to prison for as many years as possible.
