The walls around Trump are quickly collapsing and he is lapsing into a state of panic. He fears his life going into the future will be like a never-ending nightmare, and it most certainly will. And, what will his legacy be?. He will go down in history as a president who was totally unfit for the job, and one who betrayed this country and its democracy in a great time of need.
Remember the old saying used by General Douglas MacArthur in his farewell address to Congress, in which he said, “Old soldiers never die, they just fade away?” Well, in Trump’s case we can accurately say that he will not be allowed to fade away because the long arm of the law will be wrapped around him. He dismissed and denigrated the Rule of Law time and again, and now he must face it.
January 21, the day after he leaves office, will be his “day of reckoning.” Some 30 ongoing investigations will have had time to accumulate evidence against him. In some cases, prosecutors will be ready to indict him for his various illegal, perhaps, criminal actions.
It won’t be long before we watch him implode and erupt in a massive fit of anger and fury. So the Secret Service must be more than ready to step in and stop him from doing something really crazy and highly dangerous. Could he go so far as to initiate a “wag the dog” act, maybe launching an attack on Iran, as a diversion from a damaging situation? I would not dismiss this possibility.
Imagine how many lawyers he will need and how many millions of dollars he will have to spend to fight these charges. Perhaps his golf-playing days are going to come to an abrupt end. Will he have to sell his golf courses to pay for these legal problems?
Could Trump pardon himself? There are two caveats in the Constitution that place some limitations on the president’s power to pardon. He apparently can pardon himself in federal cases but cannot do so in private civil and state criminal cases.
These 30 investigations going on relative to Trump’s possible crimes and illicit dealings, range from Congressional investigations to federal criminal investigations, to state and local ones. Because Trump might have the power to pardon himself for any federal investigations we will only mention some of those state and local cases in which pardons could not be used.
Here are some of those investigations:
*Trump Organization insurance practices by New York Department of Financial Services: A subpoena has been issued to Trump by New York state regulators as part of an investigation relative to his family’s businesses and the allegation that the organization had inflated its assets to insurance companies.
*Contributions to Trump’s inaugural committee by New Jersey attorney general: New Jersey is conducting a civil inquiry into how the committee raised and spent $107 million on inaugural events.
*Role of Trump’s children and businesses in Trump’s inauguration by District of Columbia attorney general: Allegations are that this committee violated nonprofit laws by grossly overpaying for events that took place at a Trump hotel.
*Allegations by the New York Attorney General’s Office stating that it is investigating President Donald Trump over how his company may have overvalued multiple Trump assets on annual financial statements that were used to obtain loans, as well as to get economic and tax benefits.
*Trump family’s tax schemes by New York attorney general: New York City tax officials and state regulators have been examining whether President Trump and his family underpaid taxes on his father’s real estate empire over several decades.
*Whether Trump and his family underpaid taxes to New York City: New York City is working to determine if President Donald Trump paid all the taxes he should have after a New York Times report indicated that he had not paid federal taxes for several years. It said he paid only $750 in 2015 and 2016.
He will be hounded relentlessly by those who want to punish him for all the reckless, harmful things he has done. Maybe Sasha Baron Cohen, the creator of the comedy film “Borat”, will trick him into some kind of a sex scene just as he did with Rudy Guliani.
Trump’s attempt to establish a dictatorship in America has been soundly rejected. This control freak’s dream has come to a crashing end. Americans renounced the authoritarian government that Trump has been building for the past four years.
So now it’s payback time for you, Mr. Trump. You will receive payback for your cancellation of the Paris Climate Accord, the Iran Nuclear Agreement, and the U.S. membership in the World Health Organization; for your pathetic response to the deadly Covid-19 virus and allowing it to spread at an alarming rate across this country.
You will get paid back for separating young children at the Southern border from their parents and putting them in cages like animals, for corrupting the Justice Dept., for blocking Congressional subpoenas, ignoring warnings from intelligence agencies, being subservient to Putin of Russia, and refusing to work with Congress to initiate another stimulus bill for desperate Americans and small businesses,
We the people will pay you back in spades for pardoning your convicted criminal associates, canceling numerous important EPA regulations, constant lying, insulting women, your obvious racism, showing support for white supremacists, and on and on and on.
Since Biden won the election easily, Trump has been refusing to concede, initiating numerous lawsuits to try to reverse the election, and saying that he would have to be carried out of the White House kicking and screaming. That’s just what will happen if he wants to confront the law. Some law enforcement group will gladly do exactly that; placing a gag in his mouth and wrapping up his legs.
And the vast majority of Americans and the nations of the world will breathe a great sigh of relief and ecstasy as this poisonous element that has been occupying the White House for 4 years is removed.
But, before he can be forcibly removed, he is starting to go over the top just as we thought he would, doing crazy, dangerous things. He just fired Defense Secretary Esper, using a tweet to do it. And then we learned that his replacement for Esper was totally unqualified as were three other Trump lackeys who he placed in key positions of authority.
He is beginning to spin out of control, and if he keeps firing key personnel at will and tries to disrupt the work of intelligence agencies, the FBI, or the CIA, then the spineless, cowardly Republican cabinet members and the VP Pence need to invoke the 25h Amendment and remove him from office due to mental problems. If they refuse, then I would hope that the Secret Service would declare this a national emergency and take appropriate action.
Joe Biden may not become one of America’s greatest presidents, but he will go down in history as having saved this country from experiencing a monumental disaster, a second term for Trump, the man who has betrayed this country and its democracy.
