To prevent Senator Bernie Sanders from becoming the Democratic party’s 2020 presidential nominee, former President Barack Obama has privately considered speaking out to prevent this from happening.
Sanders has remained one of the frontrunners during this presidential campaign since February.
According to Politico’s Ryan Lizza: “Back when Sanders seemed like more of a threat than he does now, Obama said privately that if Bernie were running away with the nomination, Obama would speak up to stop him.”
Wow. “Obama said privately that if Bernie were running away with the nomination, Obama would speak up to stop him.”https://t.co/mBCUhb5Lol

Progressives believe the two-termed president is using his influence on the Democratic Party to undermine current grassroots movements on the campaign trail.
“Obama advisers told Politico they don’t believe Sanders has a chance to win the Democratic presidential nomination. But recent polling suggests the Vermont senator is experiencing what his campaign described as a ‘surge,’” states Common Dreams.
Publicly, Obama has vowed to support whoever becomes the 2020 Democratic nominee: “Look, we have a field of very accomplished, very serious and passionate and smart people who have a history of public service, and whoever emerges from the primary process I will work my tail off to make sure that they are the next president.”
