Earlier this year, 200 House Democrats introduced a bill, the Secure 2100 Act, that would help protect and expand Social Security benefits to ensure no citizen who qualifies would live in poverty.
Because of the economic status of the US and its citizens, Wall Street scams, and low wages, many soon-to-retire individuals were unable to adequately save for retirement resulting in what could be a massive retirement crisis.
President Trump and his administration had proposed slashing $492 million from the Social Security Administration and are continuously trying to attack it. Luckily, there are many politicians out there ready to fight for Social Security and want to improve it for the next generation of retirees.
The Social Security 2100 Act would increase social security benefits, require millionaires and billionaires help pay, protect low income workers and guard against inflation by fixing the COLA formula.
Social Security has already proven to be one of the most successful government programs in US history, but it needs to also make sure to change with the times and new economic needs.
