Study reveals Americans own 40 percent of all guns owned in the world
A new decade-long study conducted by the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva revealed that of the 207 million reported gun sales between 2006-2017, Americans accounted for 122 million of them. While this represents more than half, the study also concluded that Americans own 40 percent of all guns accounted for in the world.
Justice Anthony Kennedy, key Supreme Court swing vote, to retire
Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement Wednesday, setting the stage for what promises to be an epic political battle over his replacement.
His retirement means Trump will get a second chance to name a nominee to the Supreme Court, securing the conservative lean of the bench for a generation.
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office released a report on Tuesday stating that the federal debt is reaching its highest point since World War II, and is expected to double over the next 30 years. The report concludes that Republican’s transformative tax cuts bill and soon the expansionary bi-annual budget are projected to be a “significant and direct” cause of the precedent-breaking debt.
Police officer charged with criminal homicide of unarmed teen
A Pittsburgh police officer was charged with criminal homicide for the shooting and killing of Antwon Rose Jr. Antwon was fleeing on foot and unarmed when East Pittsburgh Police Office Michael Rosfeld shot him in the back. Although he initially reported seeing a gun in the teenager’s hand, Rosfeld later told detectives that he never saw the teen holding a gun.
