Sen. Bernie Sanders slams the NRA on NBC’s Meet the Press. When asked by host Chuck Todd if the Senate has done enough to address mass shootings in America, Sen. Sanders bluntly responded, “of course not.”

“It is unspeakable,” Sanders said. “It really is. To see the kids all over this country who go to a place where they should feel safe, where they can focus on learning are now worried about the things we saw in Texas or in Florida a few months ago.”

The interview, which took place two days after the Santa Fe, Texas school shooting that killed 10 people, pressed Sen. Sanders on whether the Senate has done enough to stop mass shootings in the U.S.

“Of course not!” Sanders said. “But it’s like every other issue. The American people are united overwhelmingly.”

Sen. Sanders called out the NRA for their responsibility.

“It’s a three-letter word,” Sander said. “It’s the NRA.”

Sanders blamed the Trump administration and Republicans for not having “the guts to stand up to these people.”

“[A]nd that’s pretty pathetic,” Sanders said.
