President Trump reportedly told several of his friends at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida that they got a lot wealthier, just a few hours after he signed the GOP tax bill.

According to reports by two people sitting at a table near the president, Trump stated “You all just got a lot richer” in reference to the newly passed GOP tax bill, during dinner Friday night.

Trump was kicking off his holiday weekend at Mar-a-Lago – dubbed the “Winter White House” where initiation fees cost $200,000 and annual dues cost $14,000 – celebrating the sweeping GOP tax bill that is projected to add $1.5 trillion to the national deficit, while lowering taxes on corporations and raising taxes on the middle class.

Yet Trump says the tax bill, is “going to be a tremendous thing for the American people. It’s going to be fantastic for the economy.”

In September, Trump claimed that his rich friends were going to be angry about the GOP tax bill, stating, “They can call me all they want. It’s not going to help. And it’s not good for me, believe me.”

Americans for Tax Fairness say otherwise. According to their analysis, the GOP plan gives 83% of the tax cuts to the richest 1% by 2027, while raising taxes on 92 million middle-class families by 2027 to pay for tax breaks for big corporations and the wealthy.
