Senator Bernie Sanders sat down with former Vice President Al Gore during a Facebook Live airing of The Bernie Sanders Show.

The two politicians discussed climate activism, climate change, and the future of clean energy.

Gore says, “We are counting on people at the grassroots level” and that “all over the country activists are now being energized,” especially during the tenuous times of the Trump administration.

The former Vice President also discusses how fossil fuel companies are manipulating politicians and policies in order to halt the progress of clean energy. Gore likens their efforts to the tobacco companies’ efforts years ago, which utilized tactics “deliberately to confuse people.” He says that, more and more, people are “seeing through the ruse.”

Overall, the message seems to be positive, that continued grassroots activism can, and is, making a difference in the transition to clean energy and the fight against climate change.
