Hillary Clinton announced to a CNN town hall audience that she will only release her transcripts of speeches she was paid to give, mostly to big banks and corporations “If everybody does it, and that includes the Republicans.”
Host for the night, Chris Cuomo, asking the question Clinton has received several times in the last couple of weeks: “Will you agree to release these transcripts? They have become an issue.”
Bernie Sanders has already agreed to release what transcripts he can find of his few paid speeches, none of which were to big banks. Clinton, on the other hand, has given 12 speeches to Wall Street banks, private equity firms, and other financial corporations in the last two years, netting her nearly $3 million.
Sanders responded to Clinton’s new stance on Twitter:
.@HillaryClinton believes Republicans should set the standard for disclosure of her Wall Street speeches. Aren’t we better than that?
