The Justice Department has just sued the city of Ferguson because of their discriminatory and unconstitutional practices seen in their police department. The police department began being investigated after the shooting of Michael Brown in 2014.
Ferguson’s city council just rejected a proposed settlement that attempted to “remedy literally years of systematic deficiencies,” which has resulted in the DOJ filing a lawsuit against the city.

“We intend to aggressively prosecute this case,” Attorney General Loretta Lynch told reporters Wednesday, “and we intend to prevail.” “The residents of Ferguson have suffered the deprivation of their constitutional rights, the rights guaranteed to all Americans, for decades. They have waited decades for justice,” Lynch said. “They should not be forced to wait any longer.”
