All news and digital operations will soon be cancelled for the publication Al Jazeera America as of April 2016. Hundreds of jobs will be lost, but this publication seemed doomed to fail from the start.

After purchasing Current TV from Al Gore in 2012 and becoming Al Jazeera America, a cable news channel, a few months later their struggle started. Employee discrimination suits were filed, ratings were abysmal, the company and Al Gore got involved in a lawsuit, and it’s network had very few viewers.
Even thought their television programming was not doing well, their online presence was, but all will soon be terminated.
“I know this will be a massive disappointment for everyone here who has worked tirelessly for our long-term future. The decision that has been made is in no way because AJAM has done anything but a great job,” CEO Al Anstey wrote in an email to staff that was distributed after the meeting.
